How the 1,095-day rule works

You need at least 1,095 days (3 years) of physical presence in Canada during the 5 years (1,825 days) before the date you apply.
Each day spent in Canada as a permanent resident counts as one full day.
Each day spent in Canada before your permanent residence, as a temporary resident or protected person, counts as half a day, up to a maximum of 365 credited days.
Days spent outside Canada do not count toward your physical presence.
