About the author
Julien Durand writes and reviews Citizenship Canada's content on the Canadian citizenship test and process. He draws on official IRCC and canada.ca sources to give future citizens clear, up to date and completely free guides.
How these guides are written
Every guide starts from the official canada.ca and IRCC pages, and from the Discover Canada study guide, the only source of the questions on the real test. The pages used are linked directly in the text, so you can check them yourself.
The fees, timelines and thresholds shown are the ones IRCC published at the time of writing. Those numbers change: whenever they differ, the official page wins over ours.
Every article exists in English and in French, with the same content, because applicants should be able to study in the language they choose.
No article is legal advice. For a complex personal situation, contact IRCC or an authorized professional.
What these guides cover
The blog follows the whole applicant journey: preparing for the test chapter by chapter, practice questions by topic, the application process and its timelines, the citizenship ceremony, and what comes after, from the Canadian passport to registering to vote. A dedicated series also reviews each province and territory, because part of the test asks about your region.
