2-Week Study Plan for the Canadian Citizenship Test
Two weeks are enough to prepare well for the Canadian citizenship test, as long as you stay consistent. Here is a simple plan, at 30 to 45 minutes a day.
Week 1: understand and learn
- Days 1 and 2: Canadian history (Indigenous peoples, exploration, Confederation in 1867).
- Days 3 and 4: geography, provinces, territories and capitals.
- Days 5 and 6: system of government, democracy and the right to vote.
- Day 7: rights, responsibilities and national symbols.
Week 2: practise and consolidate
- Days 8 to 11: one timed mock exam per day, then review your mistakes.
- Days 12 and 13: redo the chapters where your score stays low.
- Day 14: one final full mock exam under real conditions.
The secret: test yourself rather than reread
Passive rereading gives a false sense of mastery. Mock exams and quizzes are what reveal your real gaps. Track your progress to know when you are ready: a steady score of 17/20 or higher is a good signal.
